We are a family business.

As a family-run business, our sense of togetherness and fair and cooperative interaction are the cornerstones of our corporate culture. We have flat hierarchies and short decision-making paths. The right environment for ideas and impulses.

Magnus and Lukas Buske, sons of Christian Buske, joined the management team in autumn 2022 and were officially entered in the commercial register at the beginning of 2024. This makes the brothers, together with Christian Buske, the official managing directors of Plasmatreat GmbH.

Thanks to the commitment of the two sons, the future of Plasmatreat remains in family hands, making the company part of the tradition of successful family businesses that form the backbone of the German economy. If you take a look at the German economy, and the Mittelstand in particular, you will see that more than 90 per cent of it is made up of family businesses. These types of companies attach great importance to sustainable business management and reinvest their profits in order to further develop their companies and attract and promote new employees.

This also applies to Plasmatreat: we invest over 12% of our turnover each year in financing our extensive research and development department and hold over 150 patents on plasma systems and processes. In this way, we secure our technological lead and thus the jobs of our employees.

Management Team

Christian Buske opened up the world of Plasmatreat and its pioneering key technology to his sons at an early age. Magnus and Lukas Buske showed an early interest in the special and sustainable technology for surface treatment and orientated their careers towards the goal of becoming part of the family business.

They studied mechanical or industrial engineering and, after working in other companies such as Audi or Jowat Klebstoffe, joined the company as team leaders in various positions. After several years as team leaders, Magnus Buske was appointed Global Leader for Research & Development in 2019 and Lukas Buske was appointed Head of Plasma Applications.

Lukas Buske

Lukas Buske started his professional career at the VW Group after completing his master's degree in industrial engineering and worked in the area of research related to mobile services. He then gained almost three years of experience as a development engineer at Audi AG in the area of sensors and actuators. From 2017, he managed the PlasmaPlus business unit at Plasmatreat, which is used to create nanocoatings using atmospheric pressure, e.g. for anti-corrosion coatings. Since 2019, he has also been Head of Plasma Applications & Market Segment Manager Battery.

As a member of the company's extended management team, he will be responsible for sales and service, marketing, human resources and the development of the individual business segments. "I see great potential for Plasmatreat in the future in the areas of e-mobility and electronics, where we expect strong growth internationally. For example, in the battery sector, we will continue to drive forward very specific future-oriented topics such as thermal conductivity and insulation, as well as applications in the fuel cell sector. We, at Plasmatreat, want to be a reliable partner for our customers, helping to shape future production and processes," says Lukas Buske.

Magnus Buske

Magnus Buske, who studied business administration and mechanical engineering, brings extensive experience in the adhesives industry from his work at Jowat SE/Detmold and is, among other things, very knowledgeable in the area of pretreatment of substrates. This background qualified him for his position as Manager Bonding Applications at Plasmatreat in 2018, where he was responsible for projects in various industries and research areas. Shortly after joining the company, he took over additional responsibility for the Research and Development department.

In Plasmatreat's extended management team, he is now also responsible for purchasing, manufacturing, design, innovation management and the commercial departments. "In the near future, I see the main focus of our company and my work particularly in making production processes more environmentally friendly and replacing harmful solvents with our plasma applications and reducing CO2 emissions," says Magnus Buske.
